Living Room Table

I had been thinking for months to make a coffee table with old wood but I had not found the material. As soon as I saw the wood, renovating the horrible table I used to have became top priority.

Here are some things we have on it.
*Wooden puzzles.                *80's atlas and 1960's" Gould's Tropical Birds" image book.
*Mexican Sun God mask.          *Mexican alebrije, Pegasus carved out of wood.

The Inner Yard

We had an amazing weather this weekend. On Saturday we had a party with some neighbors and we moved to another around the corner after a while.

The Basement

Well this last week we had our basement door "fixed".The man fixing the door was so professional that he even asked me for a drill. I can only imagine how he fixed it without tools.
Here is a small video of how it looks pass the door.

As you can see the place has place for 35 persons in case of emergency.

Kitchen's lamp

The first thing we have changed in the kitchen is the lampshade covering the main light. It used to be a basket, witch I personally like but it did block to much light.

For this project we used :              *Brass rings                        *Wood stick curtain
                                   *Translucent paper                        *String

A layout of the rings before building

The different textures filter the light and create a warm and inviting feeling in the kitchen. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Kitchen Project

We have started to re-style our kitchen, it has never had a very define style so we decided it was time to give it some direction and transform this space. Here are some pictures of how it has been looking for around one year.

Bathroom

The bathrooms on this building are very small but bright, this room faces south so it gets direct sunlight.

I decided to paint it with vertical stripes that go around the ceiling trying to make it look wider. The shower curtain was a gift from my brother, made with a picture he took of the fernsehturm.

Cabinet Project

The first furniture I owned in Berlin was an old edition IKEA cabinet, it was a gift but just not my style.
Here is what happened to it as soon as i came to Leopoldstraße.

This is how it looked when I got it.

*Cupboard                                    *Paint
*Rectangular fish-tank                   *Color electrical tape

Now the cabinet has a display area, there are some micro-worlds I made.

Late winter snow

This winter was not that cold until February when we had some snow, that only lasted one or two weeks. The  temperature was -10 to -17 degrees for ten days straight two weeks ago and the heating system in this building is so bad that having it to the max was no enough. Our windows were frozen with 3cm of ice for six days and the temperature in our bathroom got to 8 degrees in the worst day.

Es lebe Berlin

The BVG was on Strike this last Saturday and it was horrible.
This man was having a hard time taking the news when he got to the station.

Around the corner

Our flat is just around the corner form the S-bahn station Nöldnerplatz which is nice.
For a non native German speaker, this is not an easy to pronounce word.

But to be honest around this area you only get to see very ugly buildings. Here is a picture of a very old grocery shop  that actually looks cool.
